Studio CyclingStudio Cycling

Studio Cycling, sometimes referred to as ‘spinning’ is a highly intensive cardio-vascular workout performed on stationary bikes.

Using the resistance dial at the front of your bike you can choose your personal aerobic intensity and pace and you can burn up to 900 calories per hour!

Spinning has a range of benefits including increasing cardio-vascular fitness, burning fat, toning and shaping legs, hips and bums, and strengthening the core. Above all it can be great fun!

Bryan Evans is a Schwinn Studio Cycling Instructor and an internationally qualified RPM spinning instructor.

“This is the ultimate ride, whether you choose to ride in a group or one to one, I can motivate you through a 45 minute to 1 hour interval training session, the equivalent of a 20km ride through hills, flats, mountain peaks – all set to the addictive rhythm of music. Or, if you’re really up for a challenge, watch out for my 90 or 120 minute stamina rides.

I love spin because it allows me to combine two of my greatest loves – keeping fit and music. I spend a lot of time finding the right music for my classes, carefully choreographing the ride to the tunes. Matching the sounds to the different aspects of the ride increases the motivation level of the participants. My wife says I’m like a ‘DJ on a Bike’!”

Spinning / RPM has proved to be an excellent fitness class and seems suitable for people of all fitness levels. I like the way you have full control over what you are doing, i.e. how much resistance you can put on, so everyone can participate throughout the class without feeling self conscious. The layout of the tracks is also good as you generally have speed tracks in between climbing tracks, which keeps it interesting.

Bryan is a great instructor whose enthusiasm spurs on everyone in the class. He participates fully in the class and you can see that he pushes himself to the limit as well as the other participants. His obvious enjoyment of RPM encourages you and makes the class much more enjoyable, motivating and effective.
