Pilates
Joseph Pilates was born in Germany in 1883. As a child he suffered a number of illnesses including asthma, rheumatic fever and rickets and he was not expected to live long. Joseph experimented with a number of different approaches to health and fitness and succeeded in building his body strength and lived to the age of 84.
He took elements of yoga, gymnastics, weight training, dance, circus training, to build a training system that promotes balance, strength and flexibility. A system that combines mental and physical conditioning – thousands of people now enjoy the benefits of the Joseph’s legacy.
